Step-by-Step Guide
Your First 15 Minutes in the Portal
You do not need to learn everything at once. Follow these steps in order and you will know how to handle the tasks most board members actually need.
- Start on the DashboardThe Dashboard is the first page to check every time you sign in. It shows your next meeting, your open tasks, and the fastest links to the sections you will use most.
- Look for anything that needs attentionIf the Dashboard shows a task, open it from there. That is the easiest way to know what needs to be done now instead of clicking around and guessing.
- Open your next meetingGo to Meetings and open the next scheduled meeting. This is where you will usually find the agenda, packet, minutes, and anything you need before the meeting starts.
- Read or download the board packetInside the meeting workspace, open the packet and read it there or download it to read later. If you are preparing for a meeting, this is usually the most important thing to do first.
- Complete annual tasks when they appearGo to COI Disclosures and Policy Acknowledgments when those items appear on your Dashboard. These are normal board responsibilities and the portal is designed to walk you through them.
- Check the board roster if something looks wrongVisit Members to review the roster, your role, your seat, and your committee assignments. If something is missing or incorrect, contact your Staff Admin instead of trying to fix it yourself.
- Cast votes from the Voting sectionWhen a vote is open, go to Voting. Open the item, read the question, then choose For, Against, or Abstain. If you are not sure what the vote is about, open the related meeting or resolution first.
- When in doubt, come back to Help or the DashboardYou do not have to memorize the whole portal. If you are unsure, go back to the Dashboard or use this Help Center to get back on track.
