Feature Guide

Plain-language explanations of what each portal section is for and when to use it.

Plain-Language Feature Guide

What each part of the portal is for

Use this page like a road map. Start with the job you need to do, then open the matching section.

If you only remember one thing, remember this: the Dashboard tells you what needs your attention right now.

Dashboard

Your home base

Start here every time you sign in.

  • See your next meeting and your most important tasks.
  • Open the section you need without clicking through every menu.
  • Spot anything waiting on you, like a vote or policy acknowledgment.
  • Use it as your reset point whenever you feel lost.

Meetings

Packets, agendas, and meeting details

Go here before a board or committee meeting.

  • Meeting Schedule shows upcoming and past meetings.
  • Open a meeting workspace to read the agenda and meeting details.
  • Download the packet if you want to read it later or print it.
  • Use this section first when you are preparing for a meeting.

Governance

Find policies, minutes, and official records

Go here when you need the official document, not just a summary.

  • Documents holds policies, bylaws, packets, and minutes.
  • Use it when someone says, "Can you pull up the latest approved version?"
  • Resolutions lets you read official board actions.
  • This is the best place to look for past materials and formal records.

Voting

Cast board votes clearly and on time

Go here when the board needs your response.

  • Voting shows open votes and deadlines.
  • Open the vote, read the question, then choose For, Against, or Abstain.
  • If you need more context, open the linked meeting or resolution first.
  • When the vote is complete, this page also shows the final result.

Compliance

Finish yearly board responsibilities

Go here when the portal asks you to complete a form or sign a policy.

  • Compliance Hub is where you handle annual board paperwork.
  • Complete your conflict of interest disclosure when it appears.
  • Review and acknowledge required board policies.
  • If the Dashboard says something is due, this is usually where it sends you.

Members & Committees

See who serves where

Go here when you need to confirm a person, seat, or committee assignment.

  • Members shows the roster and your board role.
  • Committees shows which members serve on which committees.
  • These pages are helpful when you are checking who should receive something or who serves in a given role.
  • If anything looks wrong, contact Staff Admin rather than trying to fix it yourself.

Strategy, Financials, Fundraising, and Impact

Oversight pages for board review

Go here when you want the board-level view of how the organization is doing.

  • Strategy shows priorities and decision windows.
  • Financials shows the board's oversight view of money and reserves.
  • Fundraising shows development work, board asks, and the shared tracker where directors keep donor and grant follow-up in one place.
  • Impact shows outcome snapshots and reporting.

AI & Research

Optional tools for faster reading and research

You do not have to use these tools to use the portal well.

  • AI Hub helps you search and summarize information faster.
  • The Internal Assistant is best for board documents already in the portal.
  • External Research is for outside research that still needs human review.
  • When in doubt, read the official document directly before relying on a summary.

Help & Settings

Where to go when you need support or preferences

These pages help you stay comfortable using the portal.

  • Help Center is where you are right now.
  • Notifications covers reminder and digest settings.
  • Settings is where you review your account preferences.
  • If something feels confusing, these are the pages that help you slow down and get your bearings.

Good to Know

You do not need every feature every day

Many directors mostly use four areas: Dashboard, Meetings, Voting, and Compliance. The rest of the portal is there when you need it. You do not need to master the whole system at once.
